TED Talk 2011 by Salman Khan
The Khan Academy and Flipping the Classroom – One of the ‘Top Ed-Tech Trends of 2012’ according to Audrey Watters (HackedEducation.com) is the Flipped Classroom, and though it has been around for a while, Salman Khan, with his Khan Academy is credited with kick starting the current popular revolution. It is worthwhile to listen to Salman Khan in this 2011 TED Talk as he explores his inital plan to simply provide YouTube tutorials to help his niece grasp her homework concepts; and then how it was actually teachers who started to use his tutorials to 'flip' their classrooms, freeing both the teachers and the students to engage in more meaningful interactions during their face-to-face time together. Essentially using technology to ‘humanize education’.
